Obama's Recess Appointment to the National Labor Relations Board to Be Heard by the Supreme Court

The Supreme Court announced today they will be hearing arguments on the case of Noel Canning v. NLRB (12-1115) later this year or early next year. The D.C. Federal Appeals Court ruled Obama violated his authority making recess appointment to the board while Congress was in secession. The President defends his appointments as legal citing Congress stall tactics impede the function of government. "When Congress refuses to act and as a result hurts our economy and puts people at risk, I have an obligation as president to do what I can without them," the president said in January 2012. "I will not stand by while a minority in the Senate puts party ideology ahead of the people they were elected to serve."   read more here

Emma Anderson, 82, Literally Thrown Off Train for Singing

Political correctness has run amuck in society. In part this has been perpetuated by all the law suits filed by individuals claiming their rights have been violated. In some cases this was true and in others it was an opportunity for a quick payday. Business has become so preemptive to law suits that rules have become ridiculous. Take for example Emma Anderson. Mrs. Anderson is 82 yrs old. She was riding a Metrorail in Miami. She was singing. A guard approached her and instructed her to cease singing and tapping the rolled newspaper. It was interpreted by the guard she was   read more

Sequester To Put 800,000 Federal Workers On Furlough

The March 1, 2013 deadline in the 2011 Budget Control Act is approaching. The Sequester, as it has been named, seems imminent. Congress is currently on recess, and upon their return, they will have only 4 days to hash out an agreement on budget cuts. The Budget Control Act implemented pending foolish and harsh spending cuts in an effort to force Republicans and Democrats to compromise on federal spending. The plan did not work.
The Department of Defense retains a 17 percent of the budget but is facing 49.5 percent of the cuts. Military cannot be furloughed. In preparation for the cuts, the Defense Department has sent out required notification to nearly 800,000 federal employees of the furlough program going into effect the end of April. The furlough will consist of one required   read more

Volkswagen Super Bowl Ad Stirring Controversy (Video)

Jamaica is a popular vacation destination for those looking to relax. People love the Jamaican accent and the overall positive attitude of her people. Trying to capitalize on that sentiment in their new Volkswagen Super Bowl ad has drawn some very direct criticism. Some find the commercial amusing while others are calling it racist. The ad stars a white male from Minnesota who is very laid back juxtaposed among his “stuffy” co-workers and boss. He keeps encouraging them to “smile.” His mood is facilitated by his car, a Volkswagen Beetle.
"The protagonist in the commercial is intentionally meant to portray an upbeat perspective and intelligence as he influences his coworkers to `Get Happy,'" said Tim Mahoney, chief marketing officer for Volkswagen of America, in an e-mail response to an AP query "His accent is intended to convey a relaxed   read more

North Korea Cannibalism: Famine So Severe Stories Are Starting to Leak Out

A disturbing scenario is leaking out into mainstream news. Accounts of North Korea cannibalism from the famine ravish farming provinces of North and South Hwanghae which is south of Pyongyang, the capital. Multiple sources have given reports of starving people turning to human meat for sustenance. According to the news agency Asia Press, the hidden famine coupled with aid sanctions have resulted in 10,000 deaths in the region.

The Asia Press has a network of “citizen journalist” inside North Korea and considers the accounts credible. It was recently reported a man was executed by firing squad for killing his daughter with the intent to eat her. He then killed his son who witnessed the event. When the wife returned home he offered her meat not disclosing where it came from. Suspicious of his actions, she called the police who found part of their children's bodies under the eaves.    read more

Boy Scouts to Drop Ban on Gays?

Grass root efforts to convince the Boy Scouts of America to rescind their national gay ban policy have been heard. Last July, the Board chose to reaffirm the club’s position on no gay members or gay troop leaders after reviewing a 2-yr long study by a committee. Today, officials announced when the board convenes next month they will consider removing the national policy and defer the decision to the local troop charter.
The honorarium president of the Boy Scouts is of course the President of the United States. President Obama has voiced his support for the gay community and urged the Boy Scouts to reconsider. Former Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, a Mormon, also urged the group to end this practice. Two members of the National Board have been vocal about the time has come to end this policy and vowed to work from within to make changes.    read more
