Volkswagen Super Bowl Ad Stirring Controversy (Video)

Jamaica is a popular vacation destination for those looking to relax. People love the Jamaican accent and the overall positive attitude of her people. Trying to capitalize on that sentiment in their new Volkswagen Super Bowl ad has drawn some very direct criticism. Some find the commercial amusing while others are calling it racist. The ad stars a white male from Minnesota who is very laid back juxtaposed among his “stuffy” co-workers and boss. He keeps encouraging them to “smile.” His mood is facilitated by his car, a Volkswagen Beetle.
"The protagonist in the commercial is intentionally meant to portray an upbeat perspective and intelligence as he influences his coworkers to `Get Happy,'" said Tim Mahoney, chief marketing officer for Volkswagen of America, in an e-mail response to an AP query "His accent is intended to convey a relaxed   read more

North Korea Cannibalism: Famine So Severe Stories Are Starting to Leak Out

A disturbing scenario is leaking out into mainstream news. Accounts of North Korea cannibalism from the famine ravish farming provinces of North and South Hwanghae which is south of Pyongyang, the capital. Multiple sources have given reports of starving people turning to human meat for sustenance. According to the news agency Asia Press, the hidden famine coupled with aid sanctions have resulted in 10,000 deaths in the region.

The Asia Press has a network of “citizen journalist” inside North Korea and considers the accounts credible. It was recently reported a man was executed by firing squad for killing his daughter with the intent to eat her. He then killed his son who witnessed the event. When the wife returned home he offered her meat not disclosing where it came from. Suspicious of his actions, she called the police who found part of their children's bodies under the eaves.    read more

Boy Scouts to Drop Ban on Gays?

Grass root efforts to convince the Boy Scouts of America to rescind their national gay ban policy have been heard. Last July, the Board chose to reaffirm the club’s position on no gay members or gay troop leaders after reviewing a 2-yr long study by a committee. Today, officials announced when the board convenes next month they will consider removing the national policy and defer the decision to the local troop charter.
The honorarium president of the Boy Scouts is of course the President of the United States. President Obama has voiced his support for the gay community and urged the Boy Scouts to reconsider. Former Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, a Mormon, also urged the group to end this practice. Two members of the National Board have been vocal about the time has come to end this policy and vowed to work from within to make changes.    read more

A federal appeals court ruled that President Obama violated the Constitution last year when he made appoints to the labor board evoking the executive power of recess appointment. The reason the three-judge panel ruled against the President was simply the Senate was not in recess as defined by the Constitution. Appointments will be invalidated.
The Department of Justice made Obama's argument that the President has discretion to decide if the Senate is unavailable to perform its advice and consent function. The judges rejected this interpretation of the law. "Either the Senate is in session or it is in recess,"    read more

Clements 60 page brief to the Supreme Court came at the end of a nearly two year retainer costing the American tax payer $3 million.

The SCOTUS is preparing to hear arguments on March 26-27 to determine the constitutionality of two laws that define marriage as the union of a man and a woman. House GOP are looking to convince the Supreme Court to leave marriage discrimination untouched.
